The 20 Best Albums of 2018 (Part 1/2)

2018 gave us great albums, which some of them are now part of our favorite-albums-ever-personal-list. I have to admit that 2018 wasn't full of a lot of amazing albums; however, there were more than 20 best albums, but you know, I decided to chose only 20. As I always do, the following list is in date order, it means that, it isn't listed from best to worst or from my favorite to least favorite. I decided to ordenate them, according their released date.

I also want to tell you that I chose these 20 albums following the next points: because of its musical production, if they show an evolution musically (according the artists/band/and so on), and if I really liked it or not.

Without lossing more time, here it is the 20 best albums of 2018, according to JusSayingg:

Kacey Musgraves – Golder Hour

Album cover
Release date: March 30th, 2018
The first album from this list goes to the American country music artist Kacey Musgraves, with one of the most beautiful albums of the year and also more one of the most acclaim. Firstly, I have to tell you that I don't usually listen to country music, but this album cought my attention and I felt like I had to listen it and I did! "Golden Hour" has stunning melodies and harmonizations, well writen songs and Kacey has a smooth voice that I loved. Lyrically, Kacey said that this album sings about her 20s, so you'll listen to love songs, breakups, faith, empowerment, fears, and other issues. I really recommend you to listen to it even if you don't usually hear country music. My favorite song was "Lonely Weekend."

The Weeknd – My Dear Melancholy,

Album cover
Release date: March 30th, 2018
This "mini-album" made by The Weeknd was one of the first albums into pouring fire to 2018. "My Dear Melancholy," is the return to his roots, because it reminded me to his mixtapes's vibes ("House of Balloons," "Thursday," and "Echoes of Silence"), but showing us new beats and that his voice sounds better than ever. This album is brutally honest and we can listen to a hurting Abel singing about what his breakup and all of what it caused on his life. It's a darker, if we compare it to his previous album, but at the same time he explores a little of upbeat sounds, to make it a rollercoaster. My favorite one was "Wasted Times."

Kali Uchis – Isolation

Album cover
Release date: April 6th, 2018
"Isolation" was one of the first albums to be "widespread acclaim from critics," it achieved 87 out of 100! And it was well deserved, because this album is not just one of the best debuts of 2018, but also one of the best revelation artists of the year. Kali Uchis is a Colombian-American singer and songwriter with a stunning voice and retro-style that I love. "Isolation" has 15 killer tracks, where she sings about her life, love, her lifestyle and other "bitchy" issues; believe me, this album is everything. "Tyrant" featuring Jorja Smith is my favorite track.

Janelle Monáe – Dirty Computer

Album cover
Release date: April 27th, 2018
This list wouldn't be complete without Janelle Monáe's masterpiece titled "Dirty Computer." We all know that Janelle is one of the most complete artists from our era and this album proves it, each song is so well writen and produced that is impossible to hate one song. As it should be, "Dirty Computer" is very powerfull, because even when it's a conceptual album, it talks about real issues as sexuality, immigration, love, racism, violence, among others. My favroite track was "Screwed" featuring Zoë Kravitz.

Lykke Li – so sad so sexy

Album cover
Release date: June 8th, 2018
Four years passed in order to have something new by Swedish singer-songwriter Lykke Li. Her fourth album titled "so sad so sexy", where she let us know why she's one of the best "emo" girls. It shows a big evolution musically, without lossing her very unique style and melancholic lyrics; the whole record is very honest, raw, fresh, and dark. I really loved how she explore trap sounds, mixed with her indie vibes, I can describe this album as a "successful mixture of emotions and sounds." I have to admit that was hard to choose just one track as my favorite, but I'll pick "Better Alone" (all songs are iconic!).

The Carters – EVERYTHING IS LOVE

Album cover
Release date: June 16th, 2018
Two giants from the music industry; Beyoncé and Jay-Z, finally together creating a powerful duet (in all aspects), we have to admit that we weren't expecting something like this, but we needed it! We also have to admit that "EVERYTHING IS LOVE" sounds like if Jay-Z would be a collaborator in Beyoncé's album, but that doesn't matter, right? This album in general is about their relationship, leadership and power. It's a well produced record and they let us know why they are who they are (in case you didn't knew it). "Boss" is my favorite song.

Years & Years – Palo Santo

Album cover
Release date: July 6th, 2018
The English trio Years & Years did it again, after having an amazing debut album in 2016, they came back to present us their world "Palo Santo." The whole concept from this album is very creative and entertaining, making it as a whole experience not only to listen to, but also to watch in a short film they created. Musically, this album has less dark beats and it's more brigther, with upbeat songs and beautiful ballads. Lyrically, there are great songs about breakups, new love, confidence, sexuality, and relationships. My favorite one was "Hallelujah."

Capital Cities – Solarize

Album cover
Release date: August 10th, 2018
The American indie-pop duo Capital Cities released their second album titled "Solarize" and I still can't get enough of it! They have a pretty unique style and they coulnd't make a bad song, even if they try to. I truly love how amazingly produced this record is and it's very fresh, without losing their essence. "Solarize" has 15 tracks, where you can sing about love, relationships, and there are some self-empowerment anthems. Musically, it shows an evolution and the result of experimenting with new sounds and instruments, it's very melodic, rhythmic and catchy. My favorite song was "My Name is Mars".

Nicki Minaj – Queen

Album cover
Release date: August 10th, 2018
"Queen" is Minaj's first album in nearly four years and what an album! You could love her or hate her, but what you shouldn't deny are her skills as rapper. Through 19 tracks, Nicki Minaj throw some shades and "the generous queen" mostly focuses rapping about her leadership as one of the most successful female rappers of all the times. On the other hand, it sounds very fresh and there are great collaborations as in my favorite song, which was "Majesty" with Labrinth, featuring Eminem.

Ariana Grande – Sweetener

Album cover

Release date: August 17th, 2018
It's very exciting to witness the evolving of one of the most complete young artists from our times. Since Ariana Grande released her debut album in 2013, she has been gaving us just greatness and bops. "Sweetener" has a very interesting concept, which at first was a little confiusing and for some people "strange," but it's just an example of how Ariana likes to try new things. The album is very experimental and we weren't used to expect somethings like that from Ariana, but I'm so happy that she decided to venture out to explore a different "world." My favorite track was "breathin".

The 60th GRAMMY Awards, do you agree with the winners?

Winners of the night
The 60th GRAMMY Awards were held on January 28th, 2018 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, so we already enjoyed the show and know who were the winners of a Grammy.

As I said in the previous post of this same topic, the nominees from this year were very "scandalous," because according to some people (and even me), the list of nominees in some categories were unfair and/or there were a missing of some other artists. In this post, I will show you the winners, my opinion about it and if I was right with the predictions that I did. Are you ready?! (Remember, I will talk just about the 20 most insteresting categories)
By the way, Bruno Mars was the king of the night and Kendrick Lamar was the prince.

1. Record Of The Year
WINNER: 24K Magic - Bruno Mars
(My prediction were Redbone - Childish Gambino or HUMBLE. - Kendrick Lamar)

The truth is that it was a big surprise to me (and maybe for a lot of other people too), that Bruno have won this category. It's a good song, but I'm still not very sure if it was "the record of the year of 2017." However, I'm happy that "Despacito" didn't won (#SorryNotSorry).

2. Album Of The Year
WINNER: 24K Magic - Bruno Mars
(My predictions were 4:44 - JAY-Z and DAMN. - Kendrick Lamar)

Another one for Bruno Mars! It was also the "surprise" of the night, I mean, Bruno won instead of Jay-z or Kendrick! Bruno Mars is an amazing artists, he dances well, sings well, and more; however, I don't feel like he should have won the category. On the other hand, I wanted that Lorde would won, because "Melodrama" is a masterpiece and I think that she deserved a Grammy for that album. For me, it was like a disrespect for Lorde and her album. She deserved more!

3. Song Of The Year
WINNER: That's What I Like - Bruno Mars
(My prediction was correct!)

This is the first category where I was right with my prediction, I chose Bruno Mars as the winner with his song "That's What I Like".

4. Best New Artist
WINNER: Alessia Cara
(My predictions were SZA and Khalid)

I'm not totally in agreement with the winner, but at the same time I feel like she deserved it. Nevertheless, I have to be honest and I wanted to see SZA winning this category.

5. Best Pop Solo Performance
WINNER: Shape Of You - Ed Sheeran
(My prediction was right!)

Even when I said that Ed was going to be the winner, I wanted to see Kesha winning her first Grammy for her song "Praying". But it's okay, Ed Sheeran deserved this Grammy for this category.

6. Best Pop Duo/Group Performance
WINNER: Feel It Still - Portugal. The Man
(I was right in my prediction!)

Again, I chose this song as the song that should win this category and I feel happy that Portugal. The Man won it.

7. Best Pop Vocal Album
WINNER: ÷ (Divide) - Ed Sheeran
(My prediction was correct)

8. Best Dance/Electronic Album

WINNER: 3-D The Catalogue - Kraftwerk
(My prediction was Mura Masa - Mura Masa)

I have to say that I disagree with this, because this is a live album and I feel like it's not that fair. Mura Masa deserved it!

9. Best Rock Album

WINNER: A Deeper Understanding - The War On Drugs
(My prediction was Hardwired...To Self-Destruct - Metallica)

10. Best Alternative Music Album
WINNER: Sleep Well Beast - The National
(My predictions were Humanz - Gorillaz and Everything Now - Arcade Fire)

11. Best R&B Performance
WINNER: That's What I Like - Bruno Mars
(My prediction was The Weekend - SZA)

Well, Bruno Mars was the king of the night and even when I'm not totally disagree, SZA (again) deserved a Grammy.

12. Best R&B Song
WINNER: That's What I Like - Bruno Mars
(My prediction was correct!)

13. Best Urban Contemporary Album
WINNER: Starboy - The Weeknd
(My prediction was correct!)

I'm so happy that The Weeknd won this category because, honestly, "Starboy" is an amazing album; however, this album is so good that it should have be nominated for more categories.

14. Best R&B Album
WINNER: 24K Magic - Bruno Mars
(My prediction was right!)

15. Best Rap Performance

WINNER: HUMBLE. - Kendrick Lamar
(My predictions were Bodak Yellow - Cardi B and 4:44 - JAY-Z)

It's very surprising that Jay-z didn't won, but I agree with the decision of the academy.

16. Best Rap/Sung Performance

WINNER: LOYALTY. - Kendrick Lamar Featuring Rihanna
(My predictions was Family Feud - JAY-Z Featuring Beyoncé)

I agree with the decision of the record academy, they deserved it.

17. Best Rap Song

WINNER: HUMBLE. - Kendrick Lamar
(My prediction was correct!)

18. Best Rap Album
WINNER: DAMN.- Kendrick Lamar
(My prediction was correct!)
It's still very surprising that Jay-Z haven't won (again), but I'm happy for that, because let's be honest, Jay-Z already have like a million of Grammys.

19. Best Song Written For Visual Media
WINNER: How Far I'll Go - (Auli'i Cravalho) - Track from: Moana: The Songs
(My prediction was I Don't Wanna Live Forever (Fifty Shades Darker) - (ZAYN & Taylor Swift) - Track from: Fifty Shades Darker)

20. Best Music Video

WINNER: HUMBLE. - Kendrick Lamar
(My prediction was correct!)

The music video for "HUMBLE." is pretty dope and well done; however, I wanted to see Jain winning her first Grammy for the music video of "Makeba".

I had 10 correct predictions (out of 20) and I feel good about that (ha!).  Some other artists also deserved a Grammy for what they did, but at the end, the people from the record academy decide who has to win. I have to say that I'm kind of sad, because Lorde didn't won something for "Melodrama", for me, it was "the album of the year."

Tell me guys, what do you think about my opinions? Do you agree? Write it down and let's keep in touch, comment and / or share this blog. Remember that the official twitter of this blog is @JusSayinggBlog and Facebook @JusSayinggBlog also my staff is on the left top of this page. The 20 Best Albums of 2016 (2/2)

This year was full of great album debuts and non debuts (for some) however, there were 20 albums which excelled more than others, because of the fresure and originality. In the next list, I will share with you the best 20 albums of 2016, according to me. Before you read the albums that I chose, I want to tell you that was very difficult to choose just 20, because the truth is that 2016 was a great year for music and us, fans.
No more to add, here it is the list of The 20 Best Albums of 2016 part two by Jus' Sayingg:

NAO - For All We Know (July 29th, 2016)

Album cover
"It’s the one moment in which she seems to step into the past and it’s just as powerful as her forays into future pop, proving NAO has the potential to become one of the most progressive voices in soul and R&B." By Dusty Henry (from COS)
NAO was one of the best discoveries that I found in this year that is ending. Her debut album is one of the best R&B records of the year and the times. Nao is pretty original and her voice is sugar-sweet.

My favorite song: In the Morning

ZHU - Generationwhy (July 29th, 2016)

Album cover
“If you look at the album cover, it's a baby—there's no other really raw way to kind of express intimacy than a baby, right? You have no idea of the world, there's no prejudice, there's no preconceived notion. You're free to digest what you want, to listen to what you want, and do what you want. I wanted to sonically emulate that kind of progression in terms of going from dark into light, that journey of kind of feeling like a child.” ZHU
He was another great discovering and since I heard his penultimate EP, I knew that his album would have to be as great as his EP. Generationwhy is a dark electronic album with amazing beats and unforgettable lyrics.

My favorite song: In the Morning

DJ Snake - Encore (August 5th, 2016)

Album cover
"I felt like I was in the middle of the desert, and nothing worked. I was trying so hard to make it, and I kind of lost my touch and my vision, just because I wanted to make it so bad. And then I was like, f*** it, now I'll do me. " DJ Snake
DJ Snake started with great hits such as Turn Down For What or the collaboration with Major Lazer in Lean On, but for his debut album he let his best tracks and making Encore one of the best electronic dance music albums of 2016.

My favorite song: Here Comes the Night (featuring Mr Hudson)

Bastille - Wild World (September 9th, 2016)

Album cover
"I think we’ve really pushed our sound. The whole album weaves through these different moods and scenes, going from massive to tiny and intimate and then back to bombastic again." Dan Smith (lead singer of Bastille)
Every single song in this album is a whole story, that not only will make dance or sing but also to think about different issues. Bastille is one of the most talented bands nowadays and Wild World is the proof.

My favorite song: Power

AlunaGeorge - I Remember (September 16th, 2016)

Album cover
"You can to try and get over somebody, but my personal hunch is that you never really stop loving someone if you really did love them. You can get them out of your life and not see them, but if you bump into them you’re just going to feel that again." Aluna Francis
AlunaGeorge have shown that they can explore new rhythms without losing their original essence with this album. It is full of amazing anthems since the beginng to the end and it is rhythmically perfect for a Saturday night.

My favorite song: Not Above Love

OneRepublic - Oh My My (October 7th, 2016)

Album cover
"the longest amount of time [the band had] ever spent on one project[...]We did a lot of living in the last four years -- there was a lot to write about." Ryan Tedder (lead singer of the band)
Oh My My is a great album full of songs about everything, you know, love, breakups, life, hope, everything! OneRepublic also has proved that they can explore new sounds and rhythms.

My favorite song: Dream

Two Door Cinema Club - Gameshow (October 14th, 2016)

Album cover
"There was a different feeling this time around. We were willing to take more chances and try things that were a little more different, more so than we ever had done before. We had taken quite a long break and that fed the record really – we had to recollect after living a whirlwind life really for the past five years. There was a lot of discovery. We turned up in the studio with a freshness and a new, better attitude and a lot more confidence."  Alex Trimble (lead singer of the trio)
I have to admid it, it was the first album that I heard from this band, but thanks to this incredible record I found out that TDCC has evolved a lot. Gameshow is pure fire and you should burn with it.

My favorite song: Fever

Tove Lo - Lady Wood (October 28th, 2016)

Album cove
“It’s about chasing rushes and highs which you can’t have without extreme lows, so it’s an album about those amazing moments when you feel at your most alive, whether it’s taking drugs or being onstage." Tove Lo
Personally, I think that Lady Wood will be a watershed for other artists in the next years, because Tove Lo succeeded creating the perfect combination between electro-pop and tech house, that I believe it will be the sound of the future and Tove Lo has created it.

My favorite song: Keep It Simple

DNCE - DNCE (November 18th, 2016)

Album cover
"I feel like the biggest reason would be that it’s our first album out and we want to introduce ourselves to the world – make it easy to find [laughs]. We want people to not have to search too much around what the album name is, just say, “Hey, this is us, we are DNCE, welcome to our life.” Joe Jonas (lead singer of the band)
Since I found out that Joe Jonas was working in a band called DNCE I thought that it was just to be transient band however, since they release Cake by the Ocean they killed me with their original anf funky vibe. Their self-titled debut studio is full of party vibes and super catchy tracks, but it is a very good debut.

My favorite song: Toothbrush

The Weeknd - Starboy (November 25th, 2016)

Album cover
"It’s almost schizophrenic, who I portray in my music. The vibe just represents how I feel, what relationship I’m going through, what friendships I’m going through, the success in my life, the failures in my life" The Weeknd
And Abel has did it again! If you thought that Beauty Behind the Madness was going to be his artwork, you were wrong, because with Starboy he has outdone himself, creating an amazing album with dope beats, unforgettable lyrics and an aura darker than ever.

My favorite album: Rockin'

Have a great 2017 everyone!From: Juan Valverde

What's your favorite story? Alicia Keys, John Legend...

Alicia Keys - Blended Family (What You Do For Love) (ft. A$AP Rocky)
Taken from her latest album HERE, Alicia Keys featuring A$AP Rocky have published the music video for her single Blended Family (What You Do For Love). I have to say that Alicia's new album is totally a masterpiece and this song is amazing. The music video is pretty good and it's perfect for this song.

"There ain't nothing I won't do for us
It may not be easy
This blended family, but baby
That's what you do, what you do, what you do
What you do for love, love"

John Legend - Love Me Now
Love Me Now is the first single from John Legend's upcoming fifth studio album called Darkness and Light, which is set to release on December 2nd, 2016. John talked about his new single saying: "Love Me Now is all about living and loving to the fullest, no matter what tomorrow may bring." This new song has a beautiful message and its rhythm is great, I liked it. Furthermore, the video explaains perfectly

"I don't know who's gonna kiss you when I'm gone
So I'm gonna love you now, like it's all I have
I know it'll kill me when it's over
I don't wanna think about it, I want you to love me now"

The Weeknd - Starboy (ft. Daft Punk)
The Weeknd has published the lyric video for the lead single Starboy, taken from his upcoming fourth studio album. I don't understand why did he released it now, I mean, he already published the music video, so this video is useless now (for me). However, it's a pretty cool lyric video, because we can see him while he was taking the photoshoot for the album.

"House so empty, need a centerpiece
20 racks a table cut from ebony
Cut that ivory into skinny pieces
Then she clean it with her face man I love my baby"

Nick Jonas - Champagne Problems
Nick has published a new music video, this time for the song Champagne Problems. He talked about it saying that: "is a song about sharing a bottle of champagne with my now ex as we were breaking up to kind of close that chapter." This tack is one of the most danceable in the album and it's catchy. Talking about the music video, it is perfect for the song, I mean, it's a dance-floor song and its main topic is champagne, so the video reflects its message perfectly.

"Raising our glass cause it's our last
With these champagne problems
Just keep on, keep on drinking
Keep on, keep on drinking"

Gorgon City - Smile (ft. Elderbrook)
The amazing English garage duo Gorgon City has published a new single with its music video, the song is called Smile in collaboration with Elderbrook. I really love Gorgon City's music and this new song as a meaningful message, while the music video was very surprising for me, but I understood its story and it's pretty good. It also reflects the life of several women who have to fight for their children.

"But you smile like everything's alright
Alright when you smile
Oh but you smile like everything's alright
Alright when you smile"

My favorite music video today was, Alicia Keys' video for her amazing song. But what about you guys, what was your favorite video? Leave your comments here and follow me on Twitter and Facebook (@JusSayinggBlog). Also, you will find several interesting publications.

1. Anne-Marie - Alarm (Best): I know that she was just walking, but she sang very good and it is a great song, so for me it was one of the best performances.

2. Bruno Mars – 24K Magic (worst): I mean, it was boring, but I have to admit that he sings great.

3. DNCE - Body Moves/Cake by the Ocean (best): It was one of the best performances, because they were very sassy and they were literally singing over the crowd, it was a great first performance for this new band.

4. Martin Garrix and Bebe Rexha - In the Name of Love (best): This acoustic version sounds better than the original version, so it was great.

5. Shawn Mendes - Mercy (best): Even when I'm not a fan, I have to admit that it is a great song and his performance was perfect.

6. Zara Larsson - Lush Life/Ain't My Fault (best): It was very spectacular, because she sang and danced amazingly perfect. We have to remember that she's a new artist and it was her first time in the EMA.

7. Green Day - Bang Bang (best): They showed me that they have the same energy that before.

8. The Weeknd - Starboy (worst): We have to admit that it was boring, even when he sang good it wasn't that spectacular as he thought, because I'm pretty sure that he thought it was going to be a great and amazing performance, but it wasn't.

9. Kings of Leon - Waste a Moment (best): This is the first time that I like one of their albums and this song is a good one. Talking about their performance, I think it was a good, because the band sounded amazing and Caleb Followill (the singer) sounds the same as in the song of the album.

10. Bebe Rexha - I Got You (best): Even when she started singing very low, she get better and she did a great show and I really liked that giant "u" with eyes.

11. Lukas Graham – You're Not There / 7 Years (best): It was almost an acapella performance and Lukas Forchhammer (the singer) did an amazing show, I think it was one of the most emotional performances of the night.

12. Afrojack - Hey (featuring Fais and Ty Dolla $ign) (worst): Even when it wasn't that bad, it wasn't one of the best performances of the night. It was boring in some parts and entertaining in other (but mainly boring).

13. OneRepublic - Let's Hurt Tonight (best): This has become as one of my favorite bands and Let's Hurt Tonight is one of the best songs from their album. Their live performance was great and the rain in the stage was stunning.

14. Green Day - American Idiot (best): It was the last performance of the night and as Green Day won the Global Icon Award, they played one of their most iconic and best songs.
