The 20 Best Albums of 2018 (Part 1/2)

2018 gave us great albums, which some of them are now part of our favorite-albums-ever-personal-list. I have to admit that 2018 wasn't full of a lot of amazing albums; however, there were more than 20 best albums, but you know, I decided to chose only 20. As I always do, the following list is in date order, it means that, it isn't listed from best to worst or from my favorite to least favorite. I decided to ordenate them, according their released date.

I also want to tell you that I chose these 20 albums following the next points: because of its musical production, if they show an evolution musically (according the artists/band/and so on), and if I really liked it or not.

Without lossing more time, here it is the 20 best albums of 2018, according to JusSayingg:

Kacey Musgraves – Golder Hour

Album cover
Release date: March 30th, 2018
The first album from this list goes to the American country music artist Kacey Musgraves, with one of the most beautiful albums of the year and also more one of the most acclaim. Firstly, I have to tell you that I don't usually listen to country music, but this album cought my attention and I felt like I had to listen it and I did! "Golden Hour" has stunning melodies and harmonizations, well writen songs and Kacey has a smooth voice that I loved. Lyrically, Kacey said that this album sings about her 20s, so you'll listen to love songs, breakups, faith, empowerment, fears, and other issues. I really recommend you to listen to it even if you don't usually hear country music. My favorite song was "Lonely Weekend."

The Weeknd – My Dear Melancholy,

Album cover
Release date: March 30th, 2018
This "mini-album" made by The Weeknd was one of the first albums into pouring fire to 2018. "My Dear Melancholy," is the return to his roots, because it reminded me to his mixtapes's vibes ("House of Balloons," "Thursday," and "Echoes of Silence"), but showing us new beats and that his voice sounds better than ever. This album is brutally honest and we can listen to a hurting Abel singing about what his breakup and all of what it caused on his life. It's a darker, if we compare it to his previous album, but at the same time he explores a little of upbeat sounds, to make it a rollercoaster. My favorite one was "Wasted Times."

Kali Uchis – Isolation

Album cover
Release date: April 6th, 2018
"Isolation" was one of the first albums to be "widespread acclaim from critics," it achieved 87 out of 100! And it was well deserved, because this album is not just one of the best debuts of 2018, but also one of the best revelation artists of the year. Kali Uchis is a Colombian-American singer and songwriter with a stunning voice and retro-style that I love. "Isolation" has 15 killer tracks, where she sings about her life, love, her lifestyle and other "bitchy" issues; believe me, this album is everything. "Tyrant" featuring Jorja Smith is my favorite track.

Janelle Monáe – Dirty Computer

Album cover
Release date: April 27th, 2018
This list wouldn't be complete without Janelle Monáe's masterpiece titled "Dirty Computer." We all know that Janelle is one of the most complete artists from our era and this album proves it, each song is so well writen and produced that is impossible to hate one song. As it should be, "Dirty Computer" is very powerfull, because even when it's a conceptual album, it talks about real issues as sexuality, immigration, love, racism, violence, among others. My favroite track was "Screwed" featuring Zoë Kravitz.

Lykke Li – so sad so sexy

Album cover
Release date: June 8th, 2018
Four years passed in order to have something new by Swedish singer-songwriter Lykke Li. Her fourth album titled "so sad so sexy", where she let us know why she's one of the best "emo" girls. It shows a big evolution musically, without lossing her very unique style and melancholic lyrics; the whole record is very honest, raw, fresh, and dark. I really loved how she explore trap sounds, mixed with her indie vibes, I can describe this album as a "successful mixture of emotions and sounds." I have to admit that was hard to choose just one track as my favorite, but I'll pick "Better Alone" (all songs are iconic!).

The Carters – EVERYTHING IS LOVE

Album cover
Release date: June 16th, 2018
Two giants from the music industry; Beyoncé and Jay-Z, finally together creating a powerful duet (in all aspects), we have to admit that we weren't expecting something like this, but we needed it! We also have to admit that "EVERYTHING IS LOVE" sounds like if Jay-Z would be a collaborator in Beyoncé's album, but that doesn't matter, right? This album in general is about their relationship, leadership and power. It's a well produced record and they let us know why they are who they are (in case you didn't knew it). "Boss" is my favorite song.

Years & Years – Palo Santo

Album cover
Release date: July 6th, 2018
The English trio Years & Years did it again, after having an amazing debut album in 2016, they came back to present us their world "Palo Santo." The whole concept from this album is very creative and entertaining, making it as a whole experience not only to listen to, but also to watch in a short film they created. Musically, this album has less dark beats and it's more brigther, with upbeat songs and beautiful ballads. Lyrically, there are great songs about breakups, new love, confidence, sexuality, and relationships. My favorite one was "Hallelujah."

Capital Cities – Solarize

Album cover
Release date: August 10th, 2018
The American indie-pop duo Capital Cities released their second album titled "Solarize" and I still can't get enough of it! They have a pretty unique style and they coulnd't make a bad song, even if they try to. I truly love how amazingly produced this record is and it's very fresh, without losing their essence. "Solarize" has 15 tracks, where you can sing about love, relationships, and there are some self-empowerment anthems. Musically, it shows an evolution and the result of experimenting with new sounds and instruments, it's very melodic, rhythmic and catchy. My favorite song was "My Name is Mars".

Nicki Minaj – Queen

Album cover
Release date: August 10th, 2018
"Queen" is Minaj's first album in nearly four years and what an album! You could love her or hate her, but what you shouldn't deny are her skills as rapper. Through 19 tracks, Nicki Minaj throw some shades and "the generous queen" mostly focuses rapping about her leadership as one of the most successful female rappers of all the times. On the other hand, it sounds very fresh and there are great collaborations as in my favorite song, which was "Majesty" with Labrinth, featuring Eminem.

Ariana Grande – Sweetener

Album cover

Release date: August 17th, 2018
It's very exciting to witness the evolving of one of the most complete young artists from our times. Since Ariana Grande released her debut album in 2013, she has been gaving us just greatness and bops. "Sweetener" has a very interesting concept, which at first was a little confiusing and for some people "strange," but it's just an example of how Ariana likes to try new things. The album is very experimental and we weren't used to expect somethings like that from Ariana, but I'm so happy that she decided to venture out to explore a different "world." My favorite track was "breathin".

It's hard to choose the best one! New year, new videos.

These past two weeks (the first two from this new year) have been full of new music videos, released by our favorite artists. In this following list, I will show you the best six videos that where released from the first day of 2018 to 14th January 2018.

Dua Lipa - IDGAF
Finally, Dua Lipa has released the music video for the single "IDGAF", taken from her self-titled debut album. This song was one of my favorite since I heard it and I'm pretty happy that she realized that it should be a single, becuase everything in this track is perfect. Let's move on to the music video, I think that it's very creative and entertaining, I also liked that she's playing the role of her ex, and the visual effect of two Duas is amazing!

Troye Sivan - My My My!
Troye Sivan has released his new single called "My My My!" and it's fire! The truth is that he is a great singer and his music style is very original, this song shows it and it's very refreshing. The video is cool for the song and I think that the place where it was recorded was perfect for its vibe. He seems to be enjoying his nw song and so do us!

Taylor Swift - End Game (feat. Ed Sheeran & Future)
Taylor Swift keeps releasing music videos and it was the turn for the song "End Game", which is a collaboration with Ed Sheeran and Future. I think that the video doesn't reflects the meaning of the song, it's like just a video where we can notice that Taylor is enjoying this new chapter in her carrer. I liked it, but as I said, it's not like a video where the meaning of the song is explained (from my point of view).

Bruno Mars - Finesse (Remix) [Feat. Cardi B]
Bruno Mars had the greatest idea of inviting the new sensation Cardi B, to make a remix of "Finesse", song that comes in Bruno's latest album (without Cardi B). Personally, I really like this song, because it's so catchy and its old school vibe is so cool. On the other hand, the music video is like a 90s TV show, because of the clothing and scenography; it's pretty fun and it goes perfectly with the song. Well done guys!

Justin Timberlake - Filthy
"Filthy" is the name of Justin Timberlake's newest single, taken from his upcoming studio album "Man of The Woods" and we have to admit that most of us were waiting for this. Let's talk about the song first, "Filthy" is a sexual song with electronic beats. It sounds different, but at the same time it has his vibe. Moving to the music video, Justin is acting like if he were Steve Jobs introducing us to a new robot that moves without the necessity of cables or something similar. I think that the meaning of the video is that, there will be a time where robots will act like humans and they will experiment feelings and emotions as we do. At this point, I'm not pretty sure if I like the song or not, but I think that if I hear it more times, I will get it (or not).

JAY-Z - Family Feud (feat. Beyoncé)
The newest music video by JAY-Z has finally been published in his official Vevo page and this is a collaboration with his wife Beyoncé. In words of JAY-Z, this song is about "separation within the culture. Like, new rappers fighting with old rappers, saying all these things. So, the line is, ‘Nobody wins when the family feuds." The music video is a story where we can see different couples and women talking about different issues. It's kind of long, but it's very entertaining and well, I would say that this is and will be one of his new iconic videos.

Tell me guys, what was your favorite music video? If I had to choose my favorite one from this list, I would choose Bruno Mars' video feauting Cardi B. Please leave a comment and/or share this blog. The 20 Best Albums of 2016 (1/2)

This year was full of great album debuts and non debuts (for some) however, there were 20 albums which excelled more than others, because of the fresure and originality. In the next list, I will share with you the best 20 albums of 2016, according to me. Before you read the albums that I chose, I want to tell you that was very difficult to choose just 20, because the truth is that 2016 was a great year for music and us, fans.
No more to add, here it is the list of The 20 Best Albums of 2016 part one by Jus' Sayingg:

Panic! at the Disco - Death of a Bachelor (January 15th, 2016)

Album cover
"Death Of A Bachelor is in honor of those times I spent alone as a kid. Allowing music to consume me. Playing everything myself just to get the idea right and out of my head." Brendon Urie
I am pretty sure that it is their most successful album so far, as it debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200, with 190,000 album units, earning the band its best sales week and first number one album.

My favorite song: Don't Threaten Me with a Good Time

Sia - This Is Acting (January 29th, 2016)

Album cover
"I’m calling it This Is Acting because they are songs I was writing for other people, so I didn’t go in thinking ‘this is something I would say’. It’s more like play-acting. It’s fun." Sia
Personally, I consider Sia as one of the most talented songwriters of this century and This Is Acting is perfect lyrically, each song has a beautiful message and a danceable rhythm, without forgetting her amazing ballads.

My favorite song: Cheap Thrills

Lion Babe - Begin (February 5h, 2016)

Album cover
"We wanted there to be a certain duality, like there is with Blondie, with me as the frontwoman, you might think I'm Lion Babe, but it's like, no, we're Lion Babe. We liked that. It's about embracing your uniqueness and rocking it." Jillian Hervey
Begin is the debut album by Lion Babe, the neo soul duo formed in New York City. It is the perfect example of how to make an unforgettable debut album.

My favorite song: Satisfy My Love

ZAYN - Mind of Mine ( March 25th, 2016)

Album cover
"I realized I couldn’t put any input in … because it didn’t fit the grain of what we were as a band and what we represented. That’s when it got frustrating for me." Zayn
Mind of Mine is Zayn's debut album that have made me to believe in Zayn's artistry. I've never been an 1D fan, but when Zayn left the band, I thoght he was not going to make it on his own, but he shut my mouth with this killer album.

My favorite song: sHe

Beyoncé - Lemonade (April 23th, 2016)

Album cover
"Grandmother. The alchemist. You spun gold out of this hard life. Conjured beauty from the things left behind. Found healing where it did not live. Discovered the antidote in your own kitchen. Broke the curse with your own two hands. You past these instructions down to your daughter, who then passed them down to her daughter.” Beyoncé (speech from the visual album)
Released in a surprisingly way, this visual album is the proof that Beyoncé is one of the few artists that never disappoints and she is always exploring new music genres. Each album is always better than the last one.

My favorite song: DADDY LESSONS

Ariana Grande - Dangerous Woman (May 20th, 2016)

Album cover
"'Dangerous Woman' is a lot stronger. ... To me, a dangerous woman is someone who's not afraid to take a stand, be herself and to be honest." Ariana Grande
Ariana made it clear that she is not a little girl anymore and that this new album is just the beginning of a new era. It is primarily a pop and R&B album, with influences of house and dance-pop.

My favorite song: Touch It

Yuna - Chapters (May 20th, 2016)

Album cover
"Songwriting was natural to me, but trying to find that deep place is a rare thing to do when you’ve been writing a long time. … After I wrote all of it, I realized these were like chapters I had in my head lined up. It was me coming out of a relationship and learning how to love yourself." Yuna
Yuna is the best example that when you have talent there is no boundries of any kind.

My favorite song: Best Love

Flume - Skin (May 27th, 2016)

Album cover
"I wanted to do something that had more of a progressive feel to it. Something that takes you on a journey, less of a verse/chorus feel." Flume (talking about one track of the album)
Four years had to pass to get this amazing album by Australian electronic musician Flume. Skin is an album where you will find a mixture of different music genres, such as: EDM, electro-pop, dance-pop, wonky, future bass and hip-hop.

My favorite song: Never Be Like You (feat. Kai)

Tom Odell - Wrong Crowd (June 10th, 2016)

Album cover
"I wanted the songs to sound big and dramatic; big strings and melodies emphasizing the songs further – rich in musicality and holding nothing back. ...I started developing this story of a guy, using some of my experiences, so this person on the album is half me, half not me." Tom Odell
Even when it could be described as a sad album, it is beautiful and Tom Odell shows his most vulnerable side, through dramatic ballads and rhythmic melodies.

My favorite song: Silhouette

Broods - Conscious (June 24th, 2016)

Album cover
"It’s a metaphor for keeping alert and aware of everything that’s happening around us at the moment. It talks about being in a sleeping state. You don’t have control over your speed or strength." Georgia Nott
It is one of the best electro-pop albums of the year and Broods have made unforgettable songs with beautiful messages and amazing beats.

My favorite song: Are You Home

Hold Up Beyoncé! Her latest video

From her latest "visual album" "Lemonade", Beyoncé has published the music video for "Hold Up" on Youtube, so if you haven't watched the whole visual album, at least you can watch part of it.

It contains a sample of "Can't Get Used to Losing You", written by Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman; an interpolation of "Maps", performed by Yeah Yeah Yeahs and written by Brian Chase, Karen O and Nick Zinner; and an interpolation of "Turn My Swag On", written by Soulja Boy.

This was the video that was nominated in two different categories in the past MTV VMAs 2016. One for Best Female Video and Best Art Direction, winning the former.
Personally, this music video is great, it's visually beautiful and I think that is one of her best music vides, so far.

Tell me, did you liked the video? Do you already watched the whole visual album? What's your favorite part? Write your comments here and don't forget to read the other posts.
