Album Review: Empire of The Sun - Two Vines

Album cover
Two Vines is the third studio album by Australian electronic music duo Empire of the Sun. It was released on October 28th, 2016. The duo explained the album title saying: “this image of a modern city overtaken by jungle”.

I listen to their music since 2013, when they released Ice on the Dune (2013) and I have to say that I really like their music style, I think that it is very original and unique, also they always make me feel like I am in another world, they have an intergalactic vibe. However, when they released the first song from this new album, I thought that it was going to be the same, but they really surprised me with Two Vines.
Musically, it has their electro pop sound, with some of glam rock, but what I liked was that they explored new sounds that makes it sound fresh. Lyrically, you will find songs about hope, life, love and peace, I mean, they always have peace and love messages in their music and this is not the exception.

The album opens with Before, that sounds like all their music, but for me this track does not describes the album, because there are songs that sounds more different from this one. It is followed by High and Low, the lead single and it was about Alice D, a girl that Luke Steele (the singer) met when he was child, he said that she was "a bit of a wild child growing up". Then, the third track Two Vines, which is a slow pop ballad with a lit rhythm, but I have to say that I did not understand its message very well.
Nevertheless, if you want to sing and dance, there are several tracks that are very catchy and danceable, such as: Friends, Way to Go, Ride (it has a Daft Punk vibe) and Zzz that was my favorite one from the album. It is about love and it has a great beat, is that kind of songs that you learn very fast because of its catchy lyrics and melody.

"Oh, tonight I stepped out, the starlight shining through
Angels calling us, we don't have too far to go
Rely on this now, the day I felt alone
Didn't wanna let you go, all we have is love to show"

On the other hand, in Two Vines you will find some good electro pop ballads, such as: Digital Life, There's No Need, where the singer's voice have a synthesizer effect. While the most vulnerable songs are First Crush and To Her Door, both songs describe the different sides of a relationship, one is about the love that you feel for the first time and the second is about the problems that people experience when in a relationship.
The deluxe version of the album contains four bonus tracks. The first three tracks are new songs, but the last one is Walking on a Dream, which was their first and most popular single, off their 2008 debut album of the same name.

Two Vines is a pretty good album with great songs, that will make you feel in another world. I liked it, but I have to admit that Empire of The Sun are not proposing anything "extraordinary" with this album, although they have explored new sounds, it does not mean that Two Vines is somethings that we had not expected.

Album cover
Two Vines is the third studio album by Australian electronic music duo Empire of the Sun. It is set to be released on October 28th, 2016. It will have two versions, the standard with 11 tracks and the deluxe with four bonus tracks. They already have released some tracks from the album, for instance: High and Low as the lead single. Followeb by three promotional singles, which are: To Her Door, Two Vines and Walking on a Dream (it comes in the deluxe version).

I really like their music style, I think that it's pretty original and unique. Thus, I'm sure that Two Vines will have amazing songs with great beats and messages. On the other hand, I hope that they have explored new rhythms and sounds, because at least the four songs that they have released have the same sound from their past albums.

2. High and Low
3. Two Vines
4. Friends
5. There’s No Need

Let's go to the jungle... Or to the beach (?)

Empire Of The Sun - High And Low
The Australian electronic music duo from Sydney Empire of The Sun have published the music video for the lead single High and Low, taken from their upcoming album Two Vines
The music video is visually beautiful and that's something that is something that characterizes them. Talking about the song, I have to admit that is not their best one, I think that it sounds as all their songs, I didn't hear something new or different. I hope their next songs would sound better than this one.

"Now we are running in a pack to the place you don't know
And I want you to know that I'll always be around
Down where the summer and the late nights last forever
There's a house on the hill and we can't travel now"

Karmin - Easy Money
Taken from their latest album Leo Rising, Karmin has published a new music video, this time for the song Easy Money. The Aquarius track is about been broke and it has great rhythm.
On the other hand, even when the video is simple and "repetitive", I think that what they are trying to explain us is that, if you want to have money you should do something to get it, not just sitting on the beach doing nothing. There's no easy money (sadly). It is totally a great song, but even when I think that I understood the meaning of the video, it is always a pleasure to enjoy a music video more "creative".

"So start stacking it up
I just wanna make easy money
Easy money, my love
A couple commas, that would sure be fun"

My favorite music video was...

Well, it is difficult to choose, but I think Empire of The Sun's video is better than Karmin's music video. However, if I had to choose the best song, Karmin's song would won.

What about you? What was your favorite video? What do you think about Empire of The Sun's video? Do you liked Karmin's song? Write all your comment here and follow me on Twitter and Facebook (@JusSayinggBlog).

Three glorious songs, but my favorite one is...

Dua Lipa - Blow Your Mind (Mwah)
The English singer Dua Lipa has released a new single called "Blow Your Mind (Mwah)", taken from her self-titled debut album that will be released on February 8th, 2017. However, you can pre-order it on iTunes. I really love Dua's tone of voice and in this song she sounds sexy and wild! I like the beat and its message, I think she will be the big "revelation" in the next months.

"If you don’t like the way I talk, then why am I on your mind?
If you don’t like the way I rock, then finish your glass of wine
We fight and we argue, you'll still love me blind
If we don’t fuck this whole thing up"

Empire Of The Sun - Two Vines
The Australian electronic music duo from Sydney have returned with a new single called "Two Vines". I always liked their music style and this new song, even when it isn't their best one makes me feel excited, because it means that more new music is coming!

"And all because we trust two vines
Slowly growing right into your ears
Show me all the life
Lead us in your wind tonight"

Florence + The Machine - Wish That You Were Here
"Wish That You Were Here" is the new song taken from the upcoming film “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children”. The upcoming 2016 American dark fantasy adventure film directed by Tim Burton that is scheduled to be released on September 30, 2016. I loved this song, is amazing as all Florence's songs and I'm pretty sure that this movie will be amazing, I mean, I'm a big fan of Tim Burton's style.

"And now I'm reaching out with every note I sing
And I hope it gets to you on some pacific wind
Wraps itself around you and whispers in your ear
Tells you that I miss you and I wish that you were here"

My favorite song is:

These three songs are great, but Florence + The Machine made a masterpiece, the lyrics, the melodies, everything is perfect on it, so I think that "Wish You Were Here" is my favorite song from these three. (But Dua Lipa's track is pretty cool)

Now you have to tell me what was your favorite song, write all your comments and let's keep in touch following me on Twitter, facebook and I also put my Instagram. Share it if you liked it.
