My Collection: Years & Years - Communion

Hello! To all the readers who decided read this post called "My Collection", where I (the writer of this blog) will talk about some of the albums that I have bought and why I bought it, I will try to do it every Thursday.

Today, I decided to choose one of my favorite albums of all the times. I'm talking about:

Communion the debut studio album by British electronica trio Years & Years. It was released on July 10th, 2015. It has two editions, the standard with 13 tracks and the deluxe with four bonus tracks.

Top songs: "King", "Take Shelter", "Desire", "Shine".

My favorite song: "Desire"

The story of how I started listening to Y&Y was because of fate. One day (it was in 2015), I was visiting Marina and The Diamonds' official Twitter and I read a tweet, where she was talking about the vocals of the singer from Y&Y (she was talking about Olly) and she also posted the music video of "King". When I saw that tweet I was like "If Marina likes it, I like it too!" And I clicked on it. Since that day they are part of my playlist, I loved their music style and I remember that when that song ended, I downloaded their EP called "Y & Y" that have four tracks, "Take Shelter", "Desire", "King" and "Memo". I remember to listen it all day, every day, always.

On the other hand, when they released "Communion" I was very happy, because finally I was going to hear more songs. However, I didn't buy the CD when it was released, because I was waiting for the deluxe version, guess what?! It never arrived to my city, so I had to buy the standard version. I was trying to buy the deluxe version by internet, but it was very expensive because it was going to be imported.

If you haven't heard it yet, do it! I always have thought that is better listen to the whole album than just the "most famous" songs from it, it gives you a better idea of the concept of the album and I also prefer to buy it in CD format than online.

AlunaGeorge's upcoming album is ready!

The English electronic music duo from London, consisting of Aluna Francis (vocals and songwriting) and George Reid (production and instrumentation), known as AlunaGeorge have released the tracklist and album cover of their upcoming second studio album called "I Remember", it will be released on September 16th, 2016.

AlunaGeorge posted a short video in their official Instagram saying the next information:

They already release some tracks from "I Remember". "I'm in Control" (feat. Popcaan) as the lead single, followed by "I Remember" and "My Blood" (feat. ZHU) and "Mean What I Mean" (feat. Leikeli47 & Dreezy) as promotional singles.

Personally, I'm a big fan of AlunaGeorge's music and I was waiting for this new album since 2015. For those who didn't know, their debut album "Body Music" was released on July 26th, 2013 (one day after my birthday), where you will find amazing songs, such as: "You Know You Like It", "Your Drums, Your Love", "Attracting Flies" and "Best Be Believing".

Album Review: MAGIC! - Primary Colours

Today, I will give my album review about "Primary Colours", the second studio album by Canadian reggae-fusion group MAGIC! The album was released on July 1st, 2016.

If you thought that after "Rude", their hit this band would disappear, you're wrong, because they are more alive than never! "Primary Colours" only has ten tracks, but are enough to make this a good album. I have to admit that, it is the first album that I hear from these Canadians, because I didn't hear their debut album, actually, the only song that I knew was "Rude". However, I knew that they had a unique music style.

In general, this new album keeps their reggae vibe and it has songs about love, hope and relationships. Most of the album have fast tracks, but "I Need You" and "No Regrets" are ballads. Talking about "No Regrets", it is a beautiful song, where MAGIC! reminds us that it's better to live our life like there's no tomorrow. While, "Gloria" and "Red Dress" are the most suggestives tracks. Furthermore, there are one song that catch my eye for its message, I'm talking about the seventh track "No Sleep", that talks about the difficult life of a parent, who still misses his past life as a single. It is a very honest song, I'm pretty sure that many young parents may feel closely related to the message of this song. On the other hand, my favorite song is "Dance Monkey", I like its rhythm and the message is very interesting. I think they are talking about the "shadow" of their hit "Rude", because it says:

"And I wrote a simple song

An honest message from my hear

When I sang it to the crowd

It was not the same applause

I could hear them screaming out

You know what we came here for" 

       

(Maybe the people prefers to hear "Rude" than a different song)

I really liked this album, but sadly I don't think that it will be as successful as their debut album. I recommend you to listen to this album, you will not regret it.

Upcoming Album: ZHU - Generationwhy

Steven Zhu, known professionally as ZHU, is a Chinese American electronic musician, record producer, and singer that is about the released his debut album called "Generationwhy" and will be release on July 29th, 2016 and you can pre-order it on iTunes. It will have 13 new tracks and one bonus tracks, that is taken from his EP released on November 6th, 2015 called "Genesis Series".

He already released "In the Morning" as first single and "Generationwhy" as the second.

I'm a big fan of ZHU's music style, so I'm so excited for his debut album, because he's very talented as musician and as singer. What I found interesting  was that, in the tracklist there isn't any collaboration with some artist, so It seems that all the songs will be sung by ZHU.

Upcoming Album: Karmin - Leo Rising

The talented American pop duo, consisting of Amy Renee and Nick Noonan called Karmin, are about to release their third album called "Leo Rising", to be release on September 9th, 2016. It will have 12 tracks and one surprise bonus track.

Pesonally, Karmin is one of my favorite duos and I know them since their debut album released in 2012 and I have seen how much they have been changing and growing and also how they have been exploring new sounds without losing their good vibe.

For those who didn't know, Karmin has been releasing new songs since 2015, that are going to be part of this upcoming album. However, this album has been already published completely on their official app called "Karmin App", which you can instal in your smart-phone and it's free.

At this point, we cannot pre-order it on iTunes, but stay tuned, because it could happen in the next weeks. Meanwhile, you can listen a preview of the songs from "Leo Rising", it seems like each song is for one Zodiac sign (mine is "Come With Me (Pure Imagination)".

Fuck With Myself, Spoken Word or Treat You Better

1.BANKS - Fuck With Myself

Jillian Rose Banks better known as BANKS, has released a new song called "Fuck With Myself", with its music video. After "Better" this is her newest single, I'm not pretty sure if she's working in a new album, but that would be nice, because her debut album called "Goddess", was released in 2014, so I need new music.

Let's talk about the song and video. Personally, I relly like her music style and this new song is great. The music video is dark and she looks beautiful and sexy, I think that it's perfect for the message of the song.

Cause my love's so good
(So I fuck with myself more than anybody else)"

2. Chase & Status - Spoken Word (ft. George The Poet)

The English electronic music production duo Chase & Status, have released a new song with its respective music video. This newest song "Spoken Word" has a sample of Rozalla's hit "Everybody's Free (To Feel Good)", that gives to the song a good vibe. While, the music video isn't very creative. However, it's okay for this song. I liked the song, but isn't like their best one.

3. Shawn Mendes - Treat You Better

“Treat You Better” is the lead single for Shawn Mendes' second studio album and he has published the music video. Even when I don't usually listen to Shawn's music, I can tell you that this is a good song, it is well written and the message is clear, as in the music video. I just want to say that he didn't need to take off his shirt, I mean, if you're going to wash your face, you can do it with your shirt on, Jus' Sayingg.

The best music video of the day is...

According to me, the best video of the day is "Treat You Better" by Shawn Mendes. Because the video matches perfectly the message of the song and it sounds great.

"Hands" - A Song for Orlando

"Hands"  is the title of the Song for Orlando. After the attack of the 49 victims of the shooting at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida. The track features Mary J Blige, Jason Derulo, Britney Spears, Tyler Glenn, Selena Gomez, Halsey, Ty Herndon, Imagine Dragons, Juanes, Adam Lambert, Mary Lambert, Jennifer Lopez, the Trans Chorus of Los Angeles, Kacey Musgraves, MNEK, Alex Newell, P!nk, Prince Royce, Nate Ruess, RuPaul, Troye Sivan, Jussie Smollett, Gwen Stefani, and Meghan Trainor. In order to pay tribute to the victims of that horrible day.

If you buy this song on iTunes, you will be helping to Equality Florida Pulse Victims Fund, the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida, and GLAAD.

Personally, I am against these signs of hatred towards the gay community and/or other human being, because is not fair to harm others just because of their thinking, all we are different and we deserve the same respect.

Album Review: American Authors - What We Live For

What We Live For is the second studio album by American indie rock band American Authors. It was released on June 1st, 2016. It has 12 tracks and "Go Big or Go Home" was its first single.

"We’re really feeling the pressure of, ‘OK, how do we take what people know and love about us from the first album, but really give it where we’re at today and kind of take it to the next level, for who we are as people, and who we are as musicians right now".

Said frontman Zac Barnett and even when it is the first American Authors' album that I hear in my life, I can tell you that the "pressure" that they felt when started recording this album paid off, because "What We Live For" is an amazing album.

I like this kind of indie rock that have songs with country vibe and alternative sounds. This album is pretty energetic, it has songs that made me feel like I was wasting my time doing nothing and that it was time to go out and do something useful and/or funny. Each song has a great message and catchy lyrics, I learned almost all the songs after the second time that I heard it. "What We Live For" is also that kind of albums that you don't need to listen several times to love it, with just one time is enough.

I have to say that there are a big deal of songs that I love, so to choose just one favorite song is difficult, but the winner is "I'm Born to Run". I have to admit that this song made me to start going to the gym, I know that it wasn't the message of the song, but I just felt that I had to do new things and met new people ( and now I will have a hotter body). The massage is beautiful, I like its rhythm, it's so catchy and now, it is one of my favorite songs for ever!

If you don't know American Authors, start listening to this new album "What We Live For", I'm pretty sure that you will find at leats five songs that will become part of your life and a new fan of this indie rock band.

Music video of the day - Hype, Talk or Bury It

1. Dizzee Rascal & Calvin Harris - Hype

Two English boys are together in one song called "Hype". Dizzee that is a rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer and Calvin one of the most famous and greatest DJs, have released this new electronic song, that is made to be the new anthem of the dance-floor. The song is so catchy and the beat is ecstatic. Something that I liked is that, it has a fresh beat that Calvin hadn't done before, with this new sound, he shows me that he's exploring new beats.

2. DJ Snake - Talk (ft. George Maple)

This French DJ always make amazing songs and it isn't the exception. "Talk" is a great song, that talks about a person that really wants to have a good relationship with someone else. Talking about the music video, what I understood is that, she found something (in this case a car) that made her feel accompanied, because in the intro of the video, the girl says:

"All my life I thought I was going to be alone, that I was going to be alone until I die. I don't have friends, I don't have family, it's me, in my house, in my work, my life was boring. 

I don't like that the people make me feel that I'm crazy! I'm not crazy!" 

3. CHVRCHES - Bury It (ft. Hayley Williams)

The Scottish synth-pop band from Glasgow called Chvrches (pronounced and written as "churches" in Roman form), featuring the lead singer (and only) Hayley Williams from one of my favorite rock bands Paramore, have published the music video for their single called "Bury It". 

I have to say that even when the synth-pop is one of my favorite music genres, I don't like too much the music style of this band. However, this song is amazing and Hayley is perfect. Furthermore, the music video is pretty entertaining and creative, I loved it.

The best music video of the day is...

According to me, the best video of the day is "Bury It", by Chvrches featuring Hayley Williams. As I said before, it is entertaining and creative. However, these three videos are pretty cool, but always has to be one winner, right?

Upcoming Album: Good Charlotte - Youth Authority

As all you know the American pop punk band Good Charlotte is about to release their sixth studio album called "Youth Authority" after six years. This new album is set to be released on July 15th, 2016. 

"Makeshift Love" was the single released on November 5th, 2015. Followed by, "40 oz. Dream", premiered on April 4, 2016 as part of their 20th anniversary celebration. However, they also released two promotional singles, "Life Changes" and "Life Can't Get Much Better".

I knew this band, but I've never been a big fan. However, it would be nice to listen it.
