The 20 Best Albums of 2017 (Part 2/2)

This is the second part of the list "The 20 Best Albums of 2017" according Jus' Sayingg.

11. Calvin Harris - Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1

Album cover
"party like it's 1980" says in the second track ("Cash Out") from the album "Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1" by Calvin Harris, which was released on June 30th 2017. This album has a great 80s vibe and it's full of amazing collaborations and unforgettable songs. Another great thing about it is that, it has the perfect number of tracks, I mean, ten tracks are enough to have a great dose of funk. Lyrically, "Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1" has awesome songs; such as, "Faking It" (featuring Kehlani and Lil Yachty) and "Hard to Love" (featuring Jessie Reyez). On the other hand, if you prefer to dance and enjoy the party, you should play "Cash Out" (featuring Schoolboy Q, PartyNextDoor and DRAM), "Skrt on Me" (featuring Nicki Minaj), and "Feels" (featuring Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry and Big Sean).

12. Mura Masa - Mura Masa

Album cover
"Mura Masa" is the self-titled debut studio album by Mura Masa and it was released on July 14th, 2017. It isn't a surprise that it was nominated for the 60th Annual Grammy Awards (in 2018), because this album is pure fire! It has guest features by ASAP Rocky, Bonzai, Charli XCX, Christine and the Queens, NAO, among others and each track shows an amazing and original music style. It would be difficult to choose just one song, because each one is pretty different sonically and Mura Masa explored several sounds creating a great electronic album. Personally, the best songs are "Messy Love", "1 Night" (featuring Charli XCX) and "All Around the World" (featuring Desiigner).

13. Kesha - Rainbow

Album cover
The most introspective album by Kesha is "Rainbow", which was released on August 11th 2017, after 4-year hiatus without releasing something new. It is also one of her most acclaimed albums so far and in "Ranbow", we can notice how much she has grown and evolved musically, because even when it has the pop that we like from her; she's mixing a little bit of country vibes. Somethings that is very beautiful from this album is that, she had the opportunity to recover from dark moments by writing stunning songs. My favorite songs were "Woman" (featuring The Dap-Kings Horns), "Praying", "Learn to Let Go" and "Hunt You Down".

14. Demi Lovato -  Tell Me You Love Me

Album cover
“I not only love singing it, but I think the underlying meaning is important for people to know. At the end of the day, you have everything you need standing right in front of you. And that’s yourself.” Said Demi explaining the song that has the same name of her album. "Tell me You Love Me" is her sixth studio album and it was released on September 29th 2017. Personally, she has been one of those artists that has grown musically after several albums, because this is her second most acclaimed album (after Confident in 2015). She's a great singer and in this album she explodes more her beautidul voice in songs like "Tell Me You Love Me", "You Don't Do It for Me Anymore" and "Only Forever".

15. P!nk - Beautiful Trauma

Album cover
“life is f*cking traumatic. But it’s also incredibly beautiful…” Said P!nk describing her seventh studio album "Beautiful Trauma", which was released on October 13th 2017. In this album it's very noticiable that she has explored new beats, making songs more dance-pop and electronic; however, she keeps singing about the same topics and as in her previous albums. Songs like "Whatever You Want", "What About Us", "Barbies", and "Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken" are the best from her "Beautiful Trauma".

16. St. Vincent - MASSEDUCTION

Album cover
"This record’s about power, the seduction on a big scale and on a little scale, you know. The political seduction or the sexual seduction or the seduction of chemicals and drugs and all that." Explained St. Vincent about her fifth album "MASSEDUCTION", released on October 13th 2017. We cannot deny her amazing skills as a songwriter and as a guitarrists, this album has the best of electropop and glam rock together, without forgeting her amazing vocals during songs like "Los Ageless", "Happy Birthday, Johnny" and "New York".

17. Taylor Swift - Reputation

Album cover
"Big reputation, big reputation, Ooh, you and me, we got big reputations, ah, And you heard about me, ooh, I got some big enemies (yah), Big reputation" sings Taylor in the song "End Game", from "Reputation" which was released on November 10th 2017. She's has been one of the most successful and controversial artists from this decade; however (and even when I'm not into her music), I have to admit that she's a talented songwriter. It seems that the "country girl" has gone (well, she's dead), because in "Reputation" we can listen to a more electropop Taylor, with dark tracks and catchy ballads. The best songs from this album are "...Ready for It?", "I Did Something Bad" and "Look What You Made Me Do".

18. Paloma Faith - The Architect

Album cover
"I wanted to look at the world around me rather than the world inside my mind..." Said the British artists Paloma Faith about "The Architect", that was released on November 17th 2017. Paloma is one of those singers that always surprises me with fresh and powerful songs, in this album she describes it as a "social observation record," because she sings about socio-political issues instead of focusing in herself (as in her previous albums). Nevertheless, she keeps blessing our life with incredible R&B and soul tracks, where we can notice that she's singing better than ever! My favorite songs were "Crybaby", "Til I'm Done", "Still Around", "WW3" and "My Body".

19. Tove Lo - BLUE LIPS

Album cover
"And in a deeper sense, it’s about never feeling satisfied. I don’t mean sexually; I mean just in life in general." Explained Tove Lo about "Blue Lips (Lady Wood Phase II)", that was released on November 17th 2017. In this album Tove Lo shows a more sexually explicit lyrics with darker beats. This album is has also the last two "chapters," which were "Light Beam" and "Pitch Black". In the first one, Tove Lo sings about "enjoying the lack of responsibilit," while the last one is about the "post-rush come-down, heartbreak." "Blue Lips" has that kind of "nasty" songs that are very beautiful at the same time (in a weird way). My favorite tracks were "She Don't Know but She Knows", "Stranger", "Cycles" and "Struggle".

20. Miguel - War & Leisure

Album cover
"War & Leisure has political undertones, because that’s what life feels like right now. This album is intentionally about the ethos right now, that we are right in the middle of all this." Said Miguel about his fourth studio album "War & Leisure", which was released on December 1st 2017. Almost at the end of this year, Miguel gave us a complete album full of great R&B songs, where he makes us reflect on important issues. It has several songs that are full of reality and that we can relate with. Personally, the best songs are "Criminal" (featuring Rick Ross), "Wolf" (featuring Quiñ), "Told You So" and "Now".

If I had to choose just one of these 20 albums as my favorite/or the best from them, I would choose "Melodrama" by Lorde. Now tell me, what about you? Do you agree with this list?
