Album Review: NAO - For All We Know

Album cover
Neo Jessica Joshua, better known as Nao, is a British singer-songwriter from East London. Her sound has been described as soul combined with electronic music, funk and R&B. She has released "For All We Know" as her debut album on July 29th, 2016.

I have to say that I'm a new fan of her music, because the first song that I heard, I heard a few days ago. However, I already knew of her existence, thanks to "Superego" song taken from Disclosure's second album "Caracal". But with "Fool to Love" (the first song that I heard), I noticed that she was a great new singer to listen.
"For All We Know" has 18 tracks, which four are short interludes that decorate the album from beginning to end and it has a great vibe with funk beats. "Get to Know Ya" is the second track, but the first song after the intro, is an electro-R&B/funk crossover, with an electronic guitar sound. Personally, the album is very relaxing, but ecstatic at the same time, her voice is so sweet and powerful. You will find songs mainly about love and breakups. "Adore You" (featuring Abhi//Dijon) is the cheesy song, while "In the Morning" is the strongest song, because of its message that talks about a woman who realized that she doesn't love her lover anymore and she has to let him go. It also has an electronic beat that makes it more dramatic. This track is followed up by "Trophy" (featuring A.K. Paul), I love its message and the guitar sounds great!

"Bad Blood" is the next song and it was the second song that I heard. I have to admit that with this song she reminded me to AlunaGeorge's music style. However, once I heard the whole album, I realized that NAO's music is truly different, it's not even similar, both are great and unique.
“Dywm” is the eleventh song off NAO’s debut album and it is my favorite one, I love its rhythm and the lyrics are beautiful:

"So you heard it all before
And I haven't even told you
That you’re more than I adore
It's so clear that it's outrageous"

This song is for those who have a crush. While, "Happy" and "We Don't Give A" are like those songs that makes you feel better.

"For All We Know" is one of the best albums debut of the year and NAO shines in the whole album, because of her voice and her original music style. The whole album is a masterpiece, the songs will touch your heart. Do yourself a favor, listen this album.

You Should Listen to... BANKS

Every Wednesday will be day of "You Should Listen to..." as part of the new sections from Jus' Sayingg and today, I decided to talk about BANKS:

Jillian Rose Banks, known simply as Banks, is an American singer and songwriter from Orange County, California.

About her music:
Genres: Alternative R&B, trip hop, alternative pop.

Discography:
Goddess (2014) (Debut album)
The Altar (Upcoming album 2016)

Her most famous songs: "Waiting Game" "Beggin for Thread"

I decided to talk about Banks for several reasons, such as, she is pretty talented as songwriter, her tone of voice is unique, she sings songs full of truth, she has a unique music style and because I really like her and I think that you should know her, she worth it.

The first song that I heard was "This Is What It Feels Like", a dark pop ballad with electronic beats and catchy lyrics, this song is so ecstatic. I remember that when she released "Goddess", her debut album, I downloaded in the first day of its release, because I wanted to see if the album was as good as the song and I found unforgetable ballads with beautiful lyrics.
Cover of her debut album
For those who didn't know, she's about to release her second studio album and I'm very excited, because the three songs that she has released from it, are so different to each other, so it means that "The Altar" (the title of the upcoming album) will have different music genres and messages.
So, if it's the first time you hear about Banks, don't worry! Never is too late to start listening to a new artist, actually, you are in the best moment, because she is about to starting a new era.

I will publish her newest single called "Gemini Feed" that is amazing, take a listen!

Tell me, did you like this new section? Do you already knew Banks? What's your favorite Banks' song? (If you know her) Write all your comments and follow me and visit me daily for more new posts.

Charlie Puth without Selena & Ariana singing live!

Charlie Puth - We Don't Talk Anymore
Charlie Puth has published the official music video for "We Don't Talk Anymore" (feat. Selena Gomez), single taken from his debut album. This song is great, since the first that I heard it, I liked it and the video is perfect for the song. However, I don't know why Selena isn't on it, just her voice.

"I just heard you found the one you've been looking
You've been looking for
I wish I would have known that wasn't me
Cause even after all this time I still wonder"

Ariana Grande - Into You (Lyric Video)
Ariana has published a lyric video of her latest single "Into You", but this time acapella and we can see her singing it! I really like this song and she's so amazing as singer. I don't understand why there are people that don't like her or that say that she can't sing or that everything is autotune and is not! She can sing, she can be a great performer and this song is grande!

"Oh baby, look what you started
The temperature's rising in here
Is this gonna happen?
Been waiting and waiting for you to make a move
Before I make a move"

The music video of the day is...

Personally, I consider Ariana Grande as one of the best artist nowadays and this lyric video is pretty good, because we can see her singing live, at the same time that we read the lyrics of the song, so her video is the winner today.

But tell me, what was your favorite music video? Follow me and visit me daily for more interesting posts.

Top Five Videos: Katy Perry

Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, known professionally as Katy Perry, is an American singer and songwriter that has published two of the most viewed music videos of the story, I'm talking about "Roar" and "Dark Horse". However, it wasn't the reason that made me choose her today. I decided to present you her top five videos, because she's about to release the music video for her latest single "Rise", taken from her upcoming fifth studio album.

I will chose just five videos, that personally are her best music videos. Furthermore, I will give you some interesting facts about them.

5. Katy Perry - Hot N Cold
This ascended to the top 10 of the Adult Contemporary chart in its 34th week, marking the longest climb to the top 10 by a female artist.

"You change your mind like a girl changes clothes
Yeah, you PMS like a bitch
I would know
And you overthink, always speak cryptically"

4. Katy Perry - California Gurls (ft. Snoop Dogg)
The song's music video was directed by Mathew Cullen, the founder of Los Angeles-based production company Motion Theory. It is a candy-coated sweet affair featuring a whole lot of confectioneries but not so much of California.

"You could travel the world
But nothing comes close to the golden coast
Once you party with us
You'll be falling in love, oh oh"

3. Katy Perry - Wide Awake
Perry penned the song specifically for her Katy Perry: Part of Me movie. "I was doing this movie and they asked me if I wanted to write an end-title song for the movie," she told MTV News, "and I was like, 'I know exactly what I want to say.'

"Yeah, I was in the dark
I was falling hard
With an open heart
I'm wide awake"

2. Katy Perry - Unconditionally
"I love this song because not only can it be a romantic, intimate song, but it can be about the type of love that a mother has when she sees her first child, or best friends or partners," Perry added. "It's a transcendent love, it's not just relationship status."

"Come just as you are to me
Don't need apologies
Know that you are worthy
I'll take your bad days with your good"

1. Katy Perry - Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)
The song's music video was filmed in May 2011. Perry created for the clip a nerdy 13-year-old alter-ego named Kathy Beth Terry, who is fond of astronomy and '90s teenage heartthrobs.
Personally, this is my favorite music video by Katy Perry and the song is also one of my favorite ones.

"Pictures of last night ended up online
I'm screwed, oh well
It's a blacked out blur, but I'm pretty sure it ruled
Damn"

Album Review: ZHU - Generationwhy

Album cover
The Chinese American electronic musician, record producer, and singer ZHU, has released his debut album "Generationwhy". His debut album Generationwhy was released on July 29th, 2016.

I listen to ZHU's music since he released "Automatic", featuring AlunaGeorge as the lead single from the EP "Genesis Series", released in 2015, it was the reason that made me start listening to this talented musician. When I found out that he was working in his debut album, I got really excited, because "Genesis Series" was amazing EP, but it was not enought for me, I wanted more songs.
So, after this little introduction of how I discovered him, I will begin with the album review.

"Generationwhy" begins with the "Intro (Neon City)", it samples an audio of the American poet, memoirist, and civil rights activist Maya Angelou saying a verse of her poem “Still I Rise”. The poesy is included in And Still I Rise, her third volume of poetry. Followed up by "Cold Blooded" (featuring Jaymes Young), a song about an addictive relationship and as all his songs, it has a "dark" sound. In fact, ZHU's music is characterised for its dark sound, neo-noir aesthetic and the synth inspired sounds of the 80’s, that makes it an album very misterious and sexual.
In fact, "sexual" is one of the main characteristics in "Generationwhy", actually, I can say that several songs (or the whole album) would be perfect for a night with your lover, you know what I mean. However, I chose the most sexual songs, that will make you have an unforgetable night. The first one is "In The Morning" (it is my favorite song), followed by "Electrify Me", "Numb" (which has an amazing intro), "Reaching" (featuring Nikola Bedingfield). However, personally "Palm of My Hand" is the king of the sexual songs that you can find in his debut album, it has an acstatic guitar solo and the girl speaking in French, makes it hotter as hell.

But if you are alone (I mean if you don't have a lover), don't worry! There are more songs with a different message, not everything is about love and sex. For instance, "Money" that is about love too!... The truth is that the whole album is about love and sex, but in this song ZHU sings about it in a different way (I guess). While, "Hometown Girl" (featuring Jaymes Young), is like the "saddest" track, because it talks about someone he trusts and love, but for one reason or another, he isn’t with her and has has been trying to fill the void with “get around girls”. On the other hand, the last two tracks are about life and how we live it. The penultimate song called "Good Life" (featuring Adam Schmalholz & Broods), where I found a beautiful verse, that says:

"You think you hurt me, but I promise I was letting you
They say we're all one, but where have we been headed to
I'd rather die free than have to live inside a petting zoo
I am the journey that I'm getting to"

The album ends with the song that gives the album title, "Generationwhy" that is a good song about live our life without feel ashamed, I loved its beat and it has a great vibe.
To finish, I am pretty sure that ZHU's debut album is one of the best of this music genre released in 2016 and he has made unforgetable tracks with great messages and ecstatic melodies. Well done ZHU.

 ZHU - Generationwhy (Album): ★★★★★

I would like to know your opinion about it. Do you like ZHU's music style? Did you already listen to this album? What was your favorite song?

Electronic videos: Broods & More!

NAO - Girlfriend
Neo Jessica Joshua, better known as Nao, is a British singer-songwriter from East London. Who has published the music video for "Girlfriend", song taken from her debut album "For All We Know", available now! The song talks about NAO’s craving for a man, and her desperation for a love that can “make her fly” and the video is perfect for this R&B song.

"Feels like pretty doesn't know me
Only shows up when I'm lonely
Through the tears of imperfection
The mirror knows"

AlunaGeorge - Mean What I Mean (feat. Leikeli47 and Dreezy)
“Mean What I Mean” is the fourth single from AlunaGeorge’s sophomore album "I Remember". The song and video are pretty good and I'm so excited for this new era of AlunaGeorge.

"Not the time, and I'm not playing
I know you've seen the signs, don't wanna read them
It's not fine, it's not okay
Boy all you gotta do right now is listen"

Broods - Heartlines
The amazing music duo from Nelson, New Zealand Broods, have published the music video for their latest single "Heartlines", from their newest album called "Conscious". This song is amazing, actually, the whole album is great (is one of the best of 2016, according to me) and the music video is perfect for the message of the song. It was co-written by fellow Kiwi musician Ella Yelich O'Connor, aka Lorde. It has been described as “one of perhaps the greatest pop moments of the new album”.

"We could fool the datelines
We could jump the statelines
I don't always play nice
But I wanna feel your heartlines"

Rihanna - Goodnight Gotham
As you know, Rihanna published something like a "music video" for the track "Goodnight Gotham", taken from the deluxe edition of "ANTI". It contains a sample of Florence and the Machine’s “Only If For a Night.” During an interview, Florence revealed some information on how the addition of her song came about:

I was so thrilled, ‘cause I’m such a huge fan. … She’d sent me the song and I said, like 'Of course,’ but we never actually managed to speak. I mean, we’ve met before, but we’ve never managed to speak in person about it … We were both really happy. … It’s one of my favorite songs Ceremonials, and I love it when stuff like that happens. When people reimagine your music, I love it when it has all these different forms."

The music video of the day is...

I think that Broods did an amazing video for "Heartlines", I like the song and the video is perfect.

New singles by Bastille, Martin Garrix & TDCC

Bastille - Fake It
The English indie rock Bastille has released a new single from their upcoming album called "Wild World". It is the second single and twelfth track from it and it sounds fresh. I have to say that I really like their music and their debut album released in 2013, is amazing that's why I'm excited for their upcoming album. I liked this new song, it sounds different, but at the same time it has their unique style.

"Drive around, night time, nowhere to go
Melt me down, I'm like wax to your jokes
Lost and found, knocking heads, laying low
And there's no point reliving crimes to lose this"

Martin Garrix & Bebe Rexha - In The Name Of Love
The Dutch DJ, record producer and musician Martin Garrix joined forces with the American singer Bebe Rexha in his newest track called "In The Name Of Love". Well, he's a DJ, but this new song is more "comercial", because it sounds like a pop song not like an electronic one, but I liked it.

"Would you let me lead you even when you're blind?
In the darkness, in the middle of the night
In the silence, when there's no one by your side
Would you call in the name of love?"

Two Door Cinema Club - Bad Decisions
"Bad Decisions" is the second single from the upcoming album, “Gameshow” by Two Door Cinema Club. This is the second song that I hear from this band and I really like their music style and with this new song it sounds like "Gameshow" will be an amazing album.

"We've got the time
Gonna work its worth and find the perfect crime
You don't need to know what everybody's thinking
Don't get mad at yourself"

My favorite song is...

It was hard to choose one but "Fake It" by Bastille is great!
