Album Review: Karmin - Leo Rising

Leo Rising is the second full-length studio album by Pop duo Karmin, released on September 9th, 2016. This is a concept album in which each song is dedicated to a sign of the zodiac, so the album has 12 tracks.

I listen to Karmin's music since they started in 2011 and when they released their EP "Hello" on May of the 2012, they became one of my favorite music duos.

"Leo Rising" is an amazing album that sounds pretty different in comparation to their penultimate album "Pulses" (2014), because this new album is more pop-rock and "Pulses" was more dance-pop. However, they still have their original sound that I loved since "Crash Your Party" (the first song that I heard). In this album you will heard songs mainly about breakups and failed relationships, it is also an album with rhythmic songs. However, there is one ballad that is amazingly beautiful called "Along the Road" (Libra), for me this song is very meaningful, because it's about past friendships, you know, time sometimes handles separate us of people we used to frequent. But if you want to listen songs about love or "less" sad, "Sugar" (Taurus) and "Come with Me (Pure Imagination)" [Leo] are perfect, because of its rhythm and it's catchy chorus. 

As I told you before, Karmin's music is very original, because Amy Renee besides singing she also raps and "Save Me Now" (Capricorn) is the proof. On the other hand, the rest of the tracks on "Leo Rising" are about breakups and failed relationships, such as: the first track "Dance with You" (Aries) and "Didn't Know You" (Gemini) that is a song about betrayal. Karmin also said: “We wanted the listener to feel the passion and energy in the story, so we built it on a driving bass line with a syncopated drum groove which opens up to a full rhythm section of aggressive, pissed-off drummers.” 

My favorite song is "Blame It On My Heart" (Sagittarius), even when it isn't dedicated to Leo (that is my sign of the zodiac), I love its rhythm and the message. I know that it is also about betray somebody else, but the way in which it was written makes it sound something cool to do (cheating is something bad, don't forget it). However, if you are broke like me, "Easy Money" (Aquarius) is our song!

A couple commas, that would sure be fun

Yeah, start raking it in"

While, "No Suitcase" (Cancer) is a perfect song for those people who are thinking into leave their hometown to go to explore new places and to make a new life.

So now you know what you will find in the newest Karmin's album. "Leo Rising" has great songs that not only will make you dance, but also to think about different issues and the cool things about "Leo Rising" is that; each song is dedicated to each one of us.
